French health authorities have approved baclofen to treat alcoholism.

The French health authorities have approve baclofen for a temporary use

The French authorities gave baclofen a “recommendation for temporary use” for three years pending the results of ongoing trials set to be completed in May 2014. The article states that this means two things; that all doctors in France are being advised to prescribe baclofen and that if a doctor does not prescribe then AUBES, the association of baclofen prescribing doctors and users, will direct a patient to a doctor who will.

  1. Why isn’t Baclofen better known in the United States. Forbes magazine ran a story on it in 2011 and then nothing more from our media. This is information people should know. I know there are different models of addiction and that means different treatment methods and everyone believes their model to be right. The suppression of this information is immoral. It is wrong to let people suffer because you want to be right. Only political parties do things like that.
